Wayang Kulit performances are always accompanied by a gamelan orchestra—a traditional Indonesian musical ensemble that includes a variety of instruments such as gongs, drums, metallaphones, xylophones, stringed instruments, and vocalists.

Traditional acoustic (ie classical) guitar simply isn't very loud and it doesn't project well over an orchestra. That's the biggest reason why guitar is uncommon in orchestral music.

I think the school orchestra is a great learning experience which helps give students fantastic opportunities to both perform and practice as a group, instead of on your own. It allows you to be aware of your own faults as well as what you can do to help make your school orchestra better.

The best method is to select an instrument listening to the sound and determining which sound the young musician is most attracted to. Each instrument has a unique sound. Each student will tend to be attracted to some sounds more than others. Some desire the low sounds of a string bass or a tuba.
