Chamber orchestraA small orchestra with fifteen to thirty members (violins, violas, four cellos, two or three double basses, and several woodwind or brass instruments) is called a chamber orchestra. A sinfonietta usually denotes a somewhat smaller orchestra (though still not a chamber orchestra).

Percussion section
1937The orchestra was founded as the London Promenade Orchestra in 1937 by its conductor, the violinist Bruce Sharpe (1914–87), and gave its first concert in March 1937 at the H.B. Beal Technical Auditorium.
Rieu pays all of the musicians in his collective and his massive team based solely on the money they bring in from various revenue streams, and the fact that they have been able to keepgoing after all these years is a truly incredible accomplishment.
ClarinetMozart seems to have had a special affection for the clarinet. He was likely introduced to the new and still rare instrument by the virtuosos of the Mannheim orchestra.
Tuba
The orchestra is divided into four groups and specified as follows: Woodwind instruments: flutes, oboes, clarinets, saxophones (if one or more are needed), bassoons. Brass instruments: horns, trumpets, trombones, tubas. Percussion, timpani, harp, piano, etc.
LeftPiano, celesta and harp are placed to the left, behind the violins, frequently in line with flutes and oboes.
The string family The strings are the biggest section, although there are only five kinds of instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass, and harp. This is because they are playing most of the time and usually form the basis of the music.
Conductor: The leader of the orchestra, who provides the beat by moving his/her arms, usually with a baton in one hand, to keep all members of the orchestra together and ensure that players come in at the correct time.
Engineers use a wide variety of techniques when recording orchestras or small ensembles, from simply placing one stereo microphone just above and behind the conductor's head to using several spot mics for each instrument section in conjunction with one to several ambient microphones.
Violins are well-suited to playing melody, making them one of the most important instruments in the orchestra. Firstly, they are the highest string instrument, so their bright tone rises above the rest of the string section. Secondly, they are played with a bow, unlike woodwind or brass instrument which rely on air.
The four most commonly used instruments in the string family are the violin, the viola, the cello and the double (string) bass.
The three most common instruments in orchestras are the bass, the contrabass, and the euphonium. The tubas are of course the bass instrument of the brass section, but they are more than capable of playing melodies in the tenor register.
