One reason orchestra managements give when asked why a dress code is necessary is that they want their musicians to present a uniform appearance to the audience. I think the school orchestra is a great learning experience which helps give students fantastic opportunities to both perform and practice as a group, instead of on your own. It allows you to be aware of your own faults as well as what you can do to help make your school orchestra better.
