Some composers incorporated the instrument in symphonic works for its dramatic effect, notably Mahler, Holst, Elgar, Scriabin, Respighi, and Richard Strauss. Saint-Saëns's Organ Symphony employs the organ more as an equitable orchestral instrument than for purely dramatic effect.
The word derives from the ancient Greek part of a stage where instruments and the chorus combined music and drama to create theater. The first semblance of a modern orchestra came in the early 17th century when the Italian opera composer Claudio Monteverdi formally assigned specific instruments to perform his music.
Although the horn is an ancient instrument, the French horn wasn't introduced until the seventeenth century. It made its first known debut in the comedy-ballet La Princesse d'Elide in Paris in 1664. It's not actually one piece. Like most instruments, the French horn comes in pieces because of its awkward shape.

In April, all musicians saw their pay reduced to that base pay level, which works out to $2,952 a week. Since May, the musicians have been paid about 75 percent of base pay, which amounts to about $2,200 per week. The new contract essentially continues payment at that $2,200-per-week level, or roughly $110,000 a year.
And why do they need them? A symphony orchestra is usually made up of (give or take) around ten first violins and ten second violins, ten violas, eight cellos and six double basses.
