Do you think all the instruments in an orchestra are essential for a successful performance practice of music in the 20th century?

Orchestra seats are located in the lowest level of the theater, the same level as the stage, though, of course, the stage is raised so that it is accessible for everybody to see.

The instrumentation requirements of orchestras became somewhat standardized in the Classical Period (1750–1820), based on the compositional habits of the most prominent composers of the period (Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven), which were in turn largely influenced by the possibilities of the instruments available to them.

Performing music, such as a symphony, is an exposed kind of service delivery. Everyone – from the individual instrumentalist to the first chairs (the middle managers) to the conductor (the manager) meets the patron (customer), who scrutinizes and evaluates their actions and performance.

In an orchestra, the most common string family instruments are the violin, viola, cello, bass, and harp.

A Symphony Orchestra is defined as a large ensemble composed of wind, string, brass and percussion instruments and organized to perform classical music. Wind instruments include flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoons. String instruments include harp, violin, viola, cello, and double bass.

That responsibility alone makes the Conductor/Music Director the most important person in any orchestra.

Orchestra Chairs The most skilled musician sits in the first chair of each section and plays any solo parts for that instrument. The next most skilled player would sit in the second chair and the least skilled musician would sit in the last chair of his or her section.

Here are some suggestions of more traditional instruments used for chamber music:String - violin, viola, cello, double bass, classical guitar. Woodwind - flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, bassoon, recorder. Brass - trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba, euphonium.

The Baroque period was between the years 1600 and 1750. Key features included small orchestras, with often a focus on the harpsichord or string instruments, and often polyphonic textures. Example composers would be Bach or Handel. The Classical period came after, between the years 1750 and 1820.

The typical orchestra is divided into four groups of instruments: strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. The typical Western marching band, school band, or wind ensemble (woodwinds and brass together are winds) leaves out the strings, but otherwise uses most of the same instruments as the orchestra.

In context, a chamber orchestra refers to an orchestra (a group of musicians) who play in rooms rather than full-sized concert halls. The acoustic limitations mean that chamber orchestras are smaller (up to 50 musicians) as opposed to a full orchestra (around 100).

The brass section of the orchestra, concert band, and jazz ensemble consist of brass instruments, and is one of the main sections in all three ensembles. The British-style brass band contains only brass and percussion instruments.
